London Stadium Lightweight Solar Installation
Installation Date: December 2024
Power generated: 1,256kWp
Total m2: 6,500 sq m2.

The solar project supported by the Mayor of London’s £500m Green Finance Fund  is projected to produce over 1MW hours of clean electricity each year, the equivalent of powering over 250 homes and saving 208 tons of CO2. 6,500 square-meter solar installation with 1,256kWp of lightweight solar modules.

Liverpool South Parkway Railway Station
Power generated:
12.375 kWp using Polysolar PS-MC-ST-series panels.

The Polysolar solar PV façade at Liverpool South Parkway station won Network Rail's annual Environment Award for its sustainable design, including the use of solar energy, recycled materials and rainwater harvesting.

Installing solar glass into the roof or façade of a greenhouse can create dual use of land where plants grow under solar panels generating solar electricity used to power the water irrigation systems and helps stabilise the temperature inside the greenhouses.

Installation Date: March 2023
Power generated: 2.688kWp

Adding transparent solar glazing to the façade of a greenhouse or glasshouse can both increase power generation and yield from the same area of land. Solar glazing also absorbs some heat, which means the amount of irrigation required for the plants behind the glass will be reduced but it doesn't impact light levels significantly so therefore plant yields are the same if not higher.

Transparent Solar Ladder Roof System
Location: Stratford Upon Avon
Power generated: 3.46kWp

An 8.1m x 5m Grey Polysolar Aluminium Landscape Ladder Roof System glazed with x54 7.8mm PS-CT-64 Transparent Solar Laminate Glazing was installed into a pre prepared roof structure with box gutter. With the Solis 4.4kw Grid linked Invertor, the power performance is 3.46kw/Peak. X2 Aluminium 10mm Thermal Panels were also fitted above the customer’s Pizza Oven to allow for flu installation. Lead works & Gable Ends were installed by the customer’s builder.

Location: Gloucester County Council Hall
Date of completion: 2018
Specifics: 33 kWp system, 550 m2 Transparent BIPV
PS-A/C series 20% transparent and opaque double glazed curtain wall
CO2 saving: 9.5 tons per annum

Polysolar provided a large BIPV system as part of the building infrastructure which will provide on-site power and improve the council’s renewable energy credentials. One of the key objectives was to make the council building one of the greenest in the county. It is a prestigious local government building. The overall contract is ~ >£4m delivered as a PV sub-contract with main contractor Kier and their nominated cladding contractor. Over 380 PV panels were delivered as part of the Polysolar contract. The buildings remained occupied throughout the contract (few hundred staff working in nominated blocks at various stages of construction) and therefore works were performed to safely (to ISO 18001 with Kier) on a very congested site. Programming and detail were critical to the installation because of only being able to work on one block at a time.
